A Light Beyond
*
I hesitate to write about love, as I do in the poem below. What many people would think upon seeing the word 'love" is a personal, emotional, sentimental feeling, something that is always nice, never hurtful to anyone. That is not what I mean, however.
A love we could call 'spiritual love' is impersonal, so not emotional or sentimental. And it might bring hurt to oneself or another. Also, it might appear aloof, but it would be intimately aloof, meaning such a cool composure can invite a more subtle, penetrating intimacy.
'Impersonal' does not mean cold, distant, or stoic. Nor does it mean not-personal. 'Impersonal' means not grounded in the person, or self. In this subtle love, one does not feel the need to seal every interaction with their signature.
Hence, below, the 'heart' is not the emotional center. Like 'impersonal,' it can include in its expression varied emotions, but it itself is not a reference to emotion. It refers to the subtle heart, or center, that is everywhere, yet personhood becomes one means of it expressing itself, though in a diluted fashion.
I welcome you to read and contemplate the poem and ask, "How does this speak to me?" without trying to find the only right meaning; there is no single right meaning.

Let us not be ashamed of the tears that pour from our Sky Heart, while silently holding each other in love, tonight. - No words need be spoken; no veils, my Dear, to come between us.
Sometimes, when we are near like this, sorrow fills the spaces within us, sometimes, joy lights up the night skies. Sometimes, the flames leap from our hearts, sometimes, coolness blankets us in its arms.
We cry one cry, You and I; we laugh one laugh, You and I. For we have become joined in this intercourse of spirits - far more subtle than of fleshly passions - in this bright darkness, tonight.
Receive all tears with me - each reminds us of those who know not this love - those who cannot give it, those who cannot receive it, those who have no one to offer it to them. - And how can we live in peace, if we do not live in love?
Together, let us make a bond of love, and be gladly bound; for in our embrace, we hold a broken and beautiful Creation, and, by grace, possibly, we and it will greet a new day - more whole and at peace within and among ourselves.
For what else can heal, my Dear, but love like this we share for each other - You and I?
And what can unite us all to Love, my Dear, other than this love?
